Let me start off by saying THEY’RE NOT LICENSED TO BE DOING ANYTHING WITH HAIR!! If I could give 0 stars I would. This was super out of my comfort zone to even go and do because nobody knows how to deal with long, thick curly hair and they reminded me of why I am the way I am with my hair. They start off with a massage that is entirely to rough. Then they will wash your hair and they use Dr. Bronners Castile soap which is NOT supposed to be used on hair. It’s used as an all purpose cleaner for your house and to do laundry. They also use tea on your hair.. tea that you drink!! I left the salon in tears because my hair was so extremely matted!! I spent 6 whole days and countless hours in the salon having my hair dematted. My hair was down to my butt and when I left my hair was matted up to my shoulders!! I lost so much hair during the dematting process. My hair is nowhere near as thick as it was and I had to cut off about 5 inches because my hair was dead. I went in the salon the next day and the lady that matted my hair was working there still and was in the middle of doing the service to someone else.. not only was my hair extremely matted I had chemical burns on my scalp from whatever they used. Halfway through the spa treatment the lady lifted my eye mask up and showed my a conditioner bottle and told me not to buy this for my hair because it wasn’t good for my hair and that it made it tangled and told me she was going to get a different conditioner to use on my hair. At this point, she knew she messed my hair up and continued on with the service. Any LICENSED PROFESSIONAL (they are not) would have known what to do but instead they continued and made it worse. When she got back I told her to let me brush my own hair because I know my hair and I felt more comfortable doing it myself. She refused and started brushing my hair starting at my scalp which also made it worse. To top it all off, at this point I’m freaking out and just wanted to leave. I told her to stop touching my hair and that I was just gonna go! I had to yank the brush out of her hand and force her to let me get up off the table. She called the owner and he tried to get me stay and let them fix it. I said absolutely not and told them I was going to a professional. DO NOT EVER GIVE THIS BUSINESS YOUR MONEY. I posted pictures of my hair when I left the salon. Also, the one picture is how much hair I lost just from ONE day!

READ BEFORE BOOKING!! First let’s start off with if i could give this place a 0 I 100% would but google doesn’t give that option. They are NOT Licensed to touch hair. On March 7th myself, my mom & my best friend went to get a “relaxing” scalp treatment for my mom’s birthday.. well it turned into a HORRIBLE experience. •The eye mask was burning my mom she then told the girl multiple times to take it off until she then took it off herself because she refused to listen. •The dome they put over your face for the steam suffocates you. •They scrub your head so hard it feels like it’s ripping your scalp. •While washing your hair they take your ends to your roots to wash making it turn into a big knot. •It was not relaxing, the massage was very painful. •The chemicals burned our scalp. (Finding out it’s chemicals + drinking tea they used on our hair) **My best friends hair turned into a big knot** Leaving her hair to her shoulders when it’s normally to her but + some. 6 days in the salon of hours & hours of work it’s still needing to be repaired from color it stripped, making her hair thinner etc. The next day my body, neck, scalp hurt so bad it was so uncomfortable. !Save your money and don’t waste your time! Picture’s for reference of my best friend’s hair when we left this business.

Booked a premium luxury head massage for 90 minutes and it did not disappoint! Booking was easy and straight forward. Upon entering, they scanned my scalp before entering the back. My masseuse was pleasant and accommodating. She kept making sure the pressure was just right. The place is esthetically cute! By the time I finished my head massage, my scalp was squeaky clean. Definitely going again.

Was gifted a 60 minute head massage. Let me start off by saying I am not one to run to leave a bad review, but the fact that I was visibly swollen the next day and sore to the touch, I felt worth sharing. We traveled up from Richmond to get this done. At first the atmosphere was pleasant, but when you get into the room the walls do not go to the ceiling. There were people talking and laughing very loudly in the lobby and the sound traveled. You could hear the people talking in the couples suite. It started out nice on the face for the very short time she did anything on my face, but when the message started it was very painful. I could feel the muscles in my neck popping back and forth. To say I was uncomfortable is an understatement….it hurt so bad. At first I thought, gosh I must really have some knots she feels and assumed she would work them a little and then ease up….she did nothing of the sort. I told her it hurt and she continued. It reminded that way the entire time. When it came to my scalp, It felt like my head was being scraped with forks very hard. Even when she was using her hands she was so rough & fast that she would jerk my head. She would randomly push down on spots on my head, which made no sense, nor felt good. It was very abrasive and rough. It felt like she was attempting to scrape the top layer of skin off my scalp. The shampoo/treatment that was used on my hair what smelled like men’s cologne. The arm message lasted all of 3 minutes, with no lotion or oil, also extremely rough. When she attempted to brush my hair at the end, she was yanking and pulling extremely hard and using what felt like a hard bristle brush to comb through wet thick hair, which was even more discomfort. Then she basically blow dried the roots and sent me on my way. The scalp examination was a joke and looked like something you could buy off amazon. It was obviously not someone not knowing what they were looking at. Everyone got the same “look good & healthy…little dry”comment. But what lead me to leaving this review is the following days after my neck/shoulders were visibly swollen and sore to the touch. My scalp was sore. Contrary to their sign, I slept absolutely horrible because of the soreness. Highly disappointed.

My premium scalp treatment at The Head Space was wonderful. Making the appointment was super easy and can be done online. When I arrived, my scalp was looked at my scalp and went into another space to have my scalp deep cleaned and massaged. Everything smelled wonderful and my hair hasn't been this soft in the longest time. It was a wonderful experience.

My first experience with a head spa and let me tell you that was amazing! I’ll definitely be back again. My hair is so extremely soft and the massage was wonderful. I highly recommend. I don’t know if it will help improve my hair loss or not but it sure felt good.

I just had my first visit with Minnie. She was very professional and friendly throughout the experience. She asked me a few times if the pressure she was applying was ok. I remember seeing reels about these types of massages and have been wanting to get one for a couple years now. Glad I picked The head space. I will definitely be back. Also.. there is another massage spot right next door, don’t be like me and sit in the wrong business waiting for someone to acknowledge you’re there. This was absolutely my fault for not reading…. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I do not understand how there are so many 5 star reviews... they must be paid for or AI. When I went the place was empty. I purchased the 1.5 hour treatment (30 min full body massage and 1 hr scalp treatment) Massage was painful! Too much pressure (I asked multiple times for less pressure)... she never massaged my legs or feet. When it came to the hair part, wow... she was so rough with my scalp it felt like she was scraping it off! She used some tool that felt like a fork and massaged with her hands so roughly. The eye mask was some essential oil thing that burned my skin, I had to remove it. The steam was WAY too hot and I had to ask her to turn it off. The shampoo BURNED SO BADLY I had to ask repeatedly to rinse it out...she ignored me the 1st and 2nd time I asked. She half blow dryed my hair with a HOT dryer while I awkwardly sat up on the massage table, naked with a see-thru sheet over me! The mixing of all the strong essential oil scents she was using (which all smelled gross, like tea tree or mint) made it a very overwhelming sensory experience! The shampoo scent was so strong, I immediately came home and had to shower! They never asked prior to the session to fill out any paperwork about medical history or allergies (as most massage places do)... this should've been my first clue to run. To top it all off, they need to change the battery in their fire alarm... it kept chirping the entire 1.5 hrs I was there. Annoying. I left with a headache and nausea from the rough massage, over working my scalp, and overwhelming scents. I think the staff tried hard and they were kind. I'm aware that not all the issues were their fault. Regardless, I still will not be returning and do not recommend.
