She is very skilled and has created a beautiful calming place for her clients to enjoy her services. She has a healing presence and she works magic! I’m so looking forward to going back! Lacey provides a fabulous massage experience! She’s calm and gentle yet she gets into your muscles and tension with pressure if that’s what you’re needing. Very healing! As someone with multiple chemical sensitivities, I have always put off and dreaded my trips to hair salons, knowing a pretty haircut meant feeling sick for a couple of days. Upon arriving at Sanctuary Salon and Spa, I immediately knew this place was different. There was no synthetic fragrance or chemical smell, and I left without my symptoms flaring up at all! Brooke is a very knowledgeable and talented hair artist. However, what really makes her stand apart is the way she cares about the health of her clients and the long term effects of chemical products on the environment. I cannot adequately express my gratitude for finding a salon that is a safe space for me, and for finding a holistic esthetician whose recommendations I can trust.

This gem of a salon is in the hustle and bustle of Downtown Lawrence. You slide into the sweet stairwell ready for a haircut, color or treatment and enter the modern and earthy salon. You step out a short time later transformed. I love going to see Brooke for the holistic experience she provides. The energy is intimate but not stifling. You know that the products are safe, and so is your personhood. She listens to me as I haphazardly describe how I want my hair to look, and then asks thoughtful questions to really understand what I want. I have only been going since Covid, and never found a moment where we were in concern for our safety. Conscientious, talented, intelligent and kind--everything you want in an experience that ultimately ends up with you looking and feeling wonderful.
