Okemo Mountain Resort

We went to Okemo during Christmas break and really enjoyed skiing at the resort. The long runs are awesome. Plenty of trails for beginners and intermediate-level skiers. Good resort for little rippers to have lots of fun. My 5-year-old daughter had a blast. It can get very cold though; so make sure to take proper layers, face masks, very warm gloves and hand warmers.

The ski school staff are really amazing. Well organized, great teachers, and took care of our kids wonderfully. The equipment rental staff is also top notch! Excellent attitudes and very helpful. Bartenders were great, and definitely get the French onion soup!

Our instructor, Bruce, is the best guy around. He gave my family the best experience we've ever had learning to ski. He's respectful and positive, and had great advice. As far as the cafeteria, the food selection is pretty good. Our son has food allergies, and we were able to get the burrito with slow-cooked beef without the tortilla. It was great! And the staff was very good, even though they were pretty busy.

Okemo is really cool. They have two bubble lifts, lots of great pow, and lots of really nice trails. The food is pricey but I mean that’s expected with any ski place. At least the food is good so I’m not gonna takeoff really any points for that one thing I will say is if you want the best food on the mountain go to Jackson Gore base and get the burritos there.

This past Saturday was my fiance and I's first time at Okemo and we had an amazing time. The staff was so nice and helpful, the trails were very well maintained and very well marked. Granted it was a little crowded (to be expected on a weekend) and really only at the mid way points where the trails/lifts intersected, but other than that it was great. The bubble lift was also really cool, esp because a random squal came and it got CRAZY windy/cold when we were up on the lift lol. Plenty of trails to choose from, from beginner to advanced with specatacular views, especially the Upper Mountain Road trail. Definitely recommend this mountain for a fun VT trip!

Although the scenery and mountain itself are incredible, the resort itself has many problems. If you plan on coming LOCK YOUR THINGS. This mountain has an obvious stealing problem. My snowboard along with another persons was stolen in one day and clearly it’s a reoccurring problem because of the massive sign stating that “Okemo is not responsible for stolen equipment” yet you are not allowed to bring your things into the lodge. The employees are some of the most rudest people I’ve ever met. Including random people on the mountain (which to be fair isn’t necessarily the mountains fault) I needed my board fixed due to a screw getting loose, so I assumed I would’ve been able to get it fixed at the rental shop. When I approached an employee at the lodge with my snowboard trying to explain my situation , she completely cut me off and started barking at me . She genuinely yelled at me like I was a child. And for what? All I wanted was some help. The rental shop people were extremely nice though along with other employees as well. IMO it was kinda split down the middle where some were downright disrespectful and others were very kind. The resort I stayed at was very nice though and the mountain is very well kept and spacious but I will say that the lifts are VERY slow

I had a great time skiing at Okemo on New Year‘s Day. Surprisingly, it wasn’t too crowded and the lift lines were pretty short. There were plenty of slopes with different difficulties. There was only one lift open at the base that went about half way up and then many other lifts at various points on the mountain. I feel that could have been organized a bit better. The slopes themselves were very fun and pretty well-groomed. You need a few days to do them all. The mountain definitely has a lot of character. I wish the black diamonds were a bit more challenging, but they were pretty exciting nevertheless. I saw plenty of skiers across a variety of ski levels and ages It’s also pretty simple and convenient to rent skis at the shop. I really enjoyed my day skiing at Okemo and I give it my recommendation.

We planned our trip around five day skiing, one day in the skating rink and one day tubing. We clarified to ensure these things were open. I didn't know I asked about night skiing and was told it is available. I can only assume that the call center is outsourced, because the information we were given was not what was happening on the mountain. We had a friend show up to the mountain around 1:30 to join us. No half day ticket, $170 full price for 2.5 hours. And really, it has nothing to do with the money. It's like going to the casino, we were ready to spend it. The mistake we made was coming to a Vail Resort, in the past things were different. After discussing this with customer service, At Okemo we realized there is no customer service. Over the phone is the same. There is no satisfaction for the customer. What we paid for was a sales pitch and not much else. It's like they just wanted to tell you what they have in hopes that you will spend money, then they have you. There was low traffic on the mountain, so quite a few lifts were closed. Almost every employee that I spoke to has concerns about this mountain. They are not happy about Vail. I am not happy with Vail and it's a shame because they own so many mountains. Just very disappointing. There are other mountains around that are more accommodating.
