It was my first time to visit this salon and it won’t be the last!! I would only trust my hair with Masaya and my other hairstylist back home. He is a master of his craft!!! He did an amazing haircut for me! I also did a Milbon treatment and it’s been 2 weeks since and my hair so far is still so smooth and shiny! The salon is also very clean! I highly recommend this salon and of course, Masaya!! You should get also get their zero hair leave in treatment ! I swear by this product… keeps my hair really soft, tangle free and frizz free!

Tommy gives the BEST cuts and is always bringing the latest products and technology from Japan. Tommy is the only one that knows how to cut my son’s curly hair perfectly every time so that it grows out well. I love Rosario for color. You won’t find a better hair salon on the Upper West Side.

I was excited for a $330+ signature head spa that promised “ultimate Zen relaxation,” but the experience didn’t quite deliver. The treatment room is at the back of a hair salon without proper walls, so instead of tranquility, I got the soundtrack of blow dryers and chatter. The scalp treatment itself was fine—my hair felt nice afterward—but for the price, I expected something far more serene and special. If you’re after a premium, spa-like escape, this might not be it. For me, it felt more like an expensive hair wash than a transformative wellness adventure.

Tommy Masanori of Masa Kanai is a genius with hair. I have never had a better haircut anywhere else in the world (across New York, London, Hong Kong and Singapore). He truly cares about ensuring that each haircut he delivers fits with the client’s lifestyle and care in addition to paying a great deal of attention to the overall health of the hair and scalp. Everyone at Mass Kanai is very professional and highly skilled. They pay attention to all the details down to their patented curved scissors. Tommy is constantly searching for the best products as well and I highly recommend the leave in conditioner they stock at the salon.

I've been coming to Masa Kanai for a little over a year now and really love the service. I see Jairol for each visit and get a straightforward men's cut. My hair type can be a bit tricky to work with as it is super straight and sticks out from all angles, but Jairol is great at styling it into something more presentable! I've gone through phases of wearing my hair longer during fall and winter as well as opting for fades and french crops during the summer months and Jairol is wonderful at adapting to my requests and offering his own advice on what would suit my hair and face type best. The booking process is efficient and the front desk staff are high responsive. I would 10/10 recommend this place to any gents that are looking for something more than the standard trip to a barbershop.

This salon is wonderful! I love my hair and the entire staff and front desk team were extremely welcoming, warm and professional. The stylist was so patient and put so much care and attention into making sure I was happy with my haircut. The price tag is so worth it and I will definitely return.
