This was my first time, having a Korean scrub! The whole experience was amazing! We were not rushed (there were 3 of us) from the dry salt sauna, to the cold dip and then warm dip and Steam room! The salt scrub was amazing! This wonderful quiet lady was so polite, though it was obvious had little English, but gave good instructions! The massage and hair wash etc. were wonderful! Over all a great experience that we All enjoyed!

Tldr; best avoided. Having lived in Korea for 5 years collectively, my husband and I were ecstatic to find a jjimjilbang while on vacation. We did a walk-in two hours after opening. After ringing the bell, the owner (?) trugged towards us aggrivatedly and demanded we pay in cash. There was no indication on the website or at the desk that this was a cash only establishment and we could clearly see the card reader on the desk. After showing her that we did not have sufficient cash, she begrudgingly accepted our card payment, slamming our bins of cloths/towels/locker keys on the counter. We probably should have left then. She led us both to our separate spaces and left in a huff without instruction. This was fine for us but would be very confusing for a first time jjimjilbang attendee. Throughout my time in the spa, the owner and an older Korean woman came in and out of the women's section. Stomping their way through, clearly annoyed at my presence. I felt extremely unwanted. I always smiled and greeted them in Korean, but this did not seem to lessen their displeasure at my presence. Now about the spa-- it was dirty. I lived in the Korean countryside, so clear signs of owners living at their establishment was not unusual or unwelcomed for me (cloths hanging out to dry, milk and other general groceries in the fridge, personal hygiene items tucked in corners, etc). But the spa was an unual level of dirty. It had clumps of hair strewn about, had a large buildup of mineral residue on the walls and floors (as if it wasn't cleaned regularly or at all), and the warm tub felt slimy on the bottom. It just did not feel clean. It did not feel like the owners took pride in their establishment. The salt room is beautiful. However, the conversations of the upstairs room can be heard through the ceiling-- which isn't a big deal, except it was a woman complaining in Korean about the people in the spa. My husband and I were the only two people in the spa. Other things of note: the men were told to wear shorts while in the spa, which is highly unusual; I was lectured at length about touching the salt room controls, despite explaining that I had not touched them and was reading the sign on the wall next to it; the entrance to the women's room faces the open front door and is only hidden by a curtain, which occasionally blows up and can give anyone in the lobby a full view of the women's tubs. My husband reported having a similarly weird and unpleasant experience in the men's section and has written his own review. In summary, we were unwanted and the spa was uncleanly. When I got home afterwards, I soaked my feet in vinegar and took a shower. I am so sad to speak negatively about an independent business, but this review is deserved.

We chose Herbal Spa during our trip to Hawaii, expecting a relaxing experience, but it turned out to be a major disappointment. The facility was dirty, with black mold on the walls, and there was an unpleasant smell throughout. The equipment was outdated, poorly maintained, and some pieces weren’t even functional. The products used felt cheap, and while the prices were reasonable for a nicer spa while on vacation, the experience didn’t match the cost. The website is very misleading, portraying a polished and inviting space that simply doesn’t exist. The men’s area, in particular, was located in a sketchy back alley that didn’t feel relaxing or welcoming at all. We left feeling dirty and had to shower immediately afterward. This was by far the worst spa experience we’ve had. If you’re considering this place, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Avoid Herbal Spa.

Omg! This is the best kept secret in Hawaii! This was the most incredible spa experience I’ve ever had in my life. I don’t usually leave reviews but felt I had to. We will be back. There are reviews commenting on the facilities. Our experience was totally opposite. It was clean and nice and perfect in every way! I highly recommend you take a trip to this gem.

I had a highly disappointing experience at Herbal Spa and Salon. After a long journey, dealing with jet lag and exhaustion, I was hoping for a relaxing and rejuvenating visit. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations. The staff was not only unaccommodating but also lacked basic courtesy. I was rushed through the experience, with no time even to use the restroom, and at one point, a staff member entered the room without notice while I was changing. I was also asked to leave the rock salt room after only 20 minutes, with no prior indication that time would be limited. Additionally, several amenities were not in proper working condition. The sauna was non-functional, the hot tub was only lukewarm, the shower didn’t work, and the soap provided was an already-used bar rather than a fresh, sealed option. The overall cleanliness and upkeep of the facility were poor and not conducive to a relaxing environment. Overall, this experience was extremely disappointing, especially after a long period of travel. Hands down the worst experience I’ve had at a spa! I would not recommend this spa to anyone seeking a relaxing or professional environment.

If you've never been to a Korean spa, leave your modesty at the door and enjoy! Do the full experience. Don't skip the cold bath! The staff - especially the owner - are all very sweet ladies. The scrub and massage are amazing! I try to go every few months.

The women at the desk were very nice. The scrub and massage were great, especially for the price. This wasn’t a true Korean Spa, at least on the men’s side. You were forced to wear shorts at all times. Went there because it was listed as a true Korean Spa. If you’re looking for the true experience, it’s not here.

The facilities are broken and they are still taking in customers. Addressed that everything is cold and was informed the water heater is broken. Why take in customers if your business isn’t offering as advertised (i.e., hot water at a sauna). Tubs are cold, showers are cold, and steam room is warm at best. Would not recommend.
