I had an awesome experience with Brianna! From the moment I walked in, everything was on point—clean space, relaxing vibe, and Brianna was super professional, knowledgeable, and attentive. She clearly knows her stuff and made the whole process smooth and comfortable. My skin feels refreshed, and her aftercare tips were extremely helpful. I’m definitely booking with her again. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a top-notch facial experience!

Wonderful massage by Jon.
Was given a 90min massage as a gift, live in NYC get regular massages there.
Jon gave me one of the best massages I’ve ever had in my life.
He was respectful, polite, friendly and very helpful.
Jon checked my posture and stance and recommended and explained a different type of massage than I’d been signed up for, didn’t feel pressure but glad he suggested.
He took his time, gave me plenty of space and time to change. knocked every time he left and entered.
His bedside manner was very chill and respectful. He was very willing to talk about / explain what he was doing as he was massaging.
I felt super safe the whole time, truly being worked on by a master of his craft.
He took his time, was willing to focus on areas I was concerned, but knew how to find the spots without me telling him, was very careful and I walked out of there feeling like a million bucks.
highly recommend

Wonderful experience all around at the Hand and Stone!!! Before booking with Brianna I had never had a facial before, and I was met with the most relaxing hour of my life. Brianna is very gentle and takes her time guarantee the best experience possible. The rest of the staff is very welcoming and warm as well, highly recommend!!!!

Firstly, the booking time was so fast. I got two gift cards from a white elephant Christmas party and I came 12/16 and was able to get an appointment for both a dermologica facial and deep tissue Swedish massage on 12/18. Brianna Rand did my face and she was very open and communicative about everything she was doing and how it would feel on my skin. Then for my massage I had Brielle who was equally as amazing, she was very precise and deliberate with all her movements and vocal about making sure the pressure she used was right for me. All in all it was a great and very relaxing experience and if I’m ever in Portsmouth again I would rebook. My skin feels firm, tight, and overall amazing.
Disclaimer: During my facial I had an exfoliation gel, it does have a kind of tingling almost burning sensation on the face, this will pass and it will feel nice and cool afterwards. If you have Brianna doing your facial she will also explain all of this to you. She’s also very good at pore extraction.

There are some pretty polarizing reviews on here. The first thing I'd say is that this is a subscription membership, so make sure you cancel it if you don't want it or book your treatments if you do. It's common sense. (Just try canceling your Planet Fitness membership or unused streaming service, they really make that hard and don't give you any credits at all.)
I've been going to this H&S location since before Covid and I've had really excellent massage therapists over that time. You can't expect anyone to stay forever, but Hand & Stone has been able to find great people.
My current therapist is Jon, and he's awesome. He's trained in neuromuscular massage therapy, and he remakes my upper back & shoulder muscles each visit. It's really therapy, not just relaxation. (You can get relaxation, too, if that's what you want.)
I make sure to have my next 2 massages booked out at the end of each visit to avoid any problems getting in. They've also been good about keeping a waitlist and contacting me when there are cancellations. I feel like it's pretty unrealistic to expect to get the person you want at the date & time that works for you without planning ahead a little, which is frankly true of pretty much any service business around Portsmouth these days.
It's a nice facility, clean rooms, heated beds, etc. You can ask to talk or not talk. You can try different therapists until you find one you like. It's a pretty great setup, and solid value for the money.

Review Hand and Stone:
My grandmother passed away on the day that I had a massage setup. I called in to the Hand and Stone in Portsmouth the moment I found out that morning to simply ask to bump my appointment to the following day, as I needed to be with my dad and family. The person on the phone didn’t offer any condolences, and instead told me that cancelling this late would cost the massage amount. I had to politely remind that I couldn’t control my grandmother passing away and that I was not cancelling but simply bumping my appointment 24 hours. Again, they didn’t seem to care and just told me that they wouldn’t charge me extra…how courteous of them.
I then arrive the following day and sit in the waiting room for about 5-10 min for my masseuse, meanwhile the lovely person I spoke to on the phone the previous day jibber jabbered behind the front desk. My masseuse comes out and asks if I filled out the form, when I appear confused they look at the person behind the front desk. This then gets the person to acknowledge that they never gave me the iPad to fill out the form needed while I was waiting, so now I am required to fill out the form in a rushed manner standing there but the iPad continues to malfunction posing this task extremely difficult.
My masseuse was very kind and polite and made sure to extend the massage over my allotted 60-min to make up for my having to fill out the form in the beginning of my time window. The massage itself was good, nothing to write home about personally, but it was nice.
I then go out to the front desk to tip my masseuse and leave and my friend at the front desk now tries to sell me on something. When I kindly decline buying into a costly monthly massage package they questioned me why. I politely told them it was too much for me and then they said a few more things trying to sell me, to which I just repeated myself and they finally dropped it.
What was supposed to be a relaxing experience treating myself turned into something that felt more like a job I had to get over and done with. I am sure other locations are nice but personally would never go back to Portsmouth because of this front desk person. Not a relaxing spa day as I had hoped and needed.

Brielle is such an amazing massage therapist AND manager. She has made my experience very welcoming and comfortable each time i have visited. Her massages are sooo relaxing and beneficial for my back problems.

I know this sounds corny. But I wish I could give this place zero stars. I had an OK massage the first time and was convinced to get the membership because it was so close to home and convenient. Since signing up, I had two or three appointments booked after my last massage. Then they stopped booking my massages, and it was impossible to get in contact with anyone over the phone to schedule a massage. So, I was paying the monthly fee for service I wasn’t receiving through no fault of my own. When I finally decided to go in person to cancel my membership, I was hit with a bunch of excuses; that new therapist were hired, and all the old ones were fired and that things are gonna be better. However, the quality of the massages did not get any better. And they made canceling my subscription the hardest process ever. Just so you know, if you try to cancel your membership, they say you have to use all your credits in 90 days or you can get gift cards. So having 7 credits, and their poor availability, I was only able to schedule 4 & I was supposed to get 3 gift cards. What they don’t tell you is, they won’t give you the gift cards until your last appointment, because they “didn’t have them.” To then on your last appointment, 2 months later, only to give you a paper card saying the massage fee wasn’t paid for as your “gift cards” & they expire after your 90 days are up. I am appalled by the service here and would not recommend this company to anyone. They give you an average massage, that starts late and ends early & Rob you blind. See below for the “gift cards” I got. So unprofessional. Take your money else where & save yourself the headache.
