Avalon Salon Spa of Lake Zurich

Took my 10 year old daughter to get her hair cut. She loved the “aesthetic” of the salon and got an amazing wash. Lily was so kind and thorough cutting her hair. We will definitely be coming back.

I was a customer at this salon when this salon was located at DeerPark. Shyla and another stylist provided haircuts and highlights. I left this salon and found another Aveda salon and stylist who corrected Avalon stylist mistakes. I was with my stylist for five years and have to find a new stylist due to her taking leave. I called Avalon and sent an email containing photos and a description of what I’m looking for. I had been to two other stylists before; one botched my hair and another corrected my hair. Avalon scheduled me with a stylist who was supposedly comfortable with providing the style I wanted but wasn’t someone who I wanted to be scheduled with due to not enough years of experience but agreed to schedule with out of desperation due to it being the Christmas season. The stylist was not familiar with round cutting; did not know how to take a couple pieces of hair from one side and cut it on the opposite side to hide a tiny receding hair spot at the top of my forehead, nor how to give me face framing “money pieces” highlights. She also didn’t feel comfortable tapering long face framing layers around my face. In the beginning of my appointment again I showed her photos, and again discussed with her these three things followed by her saying to do what she thought was best to achieve what I desired in the long run. For 200.00 I was sent home without “money pieces” face framing highlights or tapered face framing long layers around my face, and she didn’t know how to do a tip or trick - when a stylist takes a couple of strands from one side and cut them equally on the opposite side to hide a small receding spot. My prior stylist had forty years of experience and knew how to do both. Avalon was confident Kim was experienced enough to provide me and work with me to provide me the style I wanted to achieve. She is very personable however for 200.00 she sent me home without showing me the back of my hair, damp, and without the style highlights I wanted especially around my face. I went home with corrected bang lengths; however, she made it more complex and did cut a few strands on my one side along the side of my ear and not the other side. She said she doesn’t normally cut other clients like on the sides or she’d have to cut my perimeter. Ok well I’m not other clients. It’s not hard to create gradual tapered long layers around one’s face or round cut. I’ve watched stylists slide cut long layers online. Upon checked out; I mentioned my hair usually with Aveda takes two to three hours; at that rate they said they’d charge me by my time. Which is not true. They scheduled the services as follows: Highlights Lowlights Toner Haircut/Style Blow dry Straighten Those aforementioned services are not by my time. She also in a nutshell stated I directed her doing my hair appointment and wasn’t welcome back in her chair. I tried to communicate effectively with photos and basic language that anyone can find on Google: face framing highlights, long layers around my face, round cut so my bangs lay curved when dry, and to take a couple strands to the other side to hide a receding spot. In the beginning, I said she could essentially do what she thought was best - she’s the stylist. I tried to reschedule prior but because she is one of a handful of stylists working Monday, I agreed. She lacks experience. She sent me home damp and without any finishing products and blamed me when I am not a stylist. I was going to purchase additional products but upon her conversation with me at checkout, I paid and left. I will not return or refer anyone to this salon.

Avalon is a lovely salon and spa that offers everything under the sun. They have aestheticians that wax, thread, and tint eyebrows, facials, massages, nails, and all things hair. I’ve had eyebrow waxing and tinting with Derota twice and she is excellent. Lily has cut my sons hair and did a fantastic job. He really enjoyed the head massage. My favorite person at Avalon is Elizabeth who is an excellent colorist for highlights and does à very good cut. I’m from NYC and you know how picky we can be. I look forward to having à facial or massage there soon.

Elizabeth and the Entire team are so guenuine and consummately professional that I could just sigh happily. It’s an incredible experience for your hair from start to finish and you will feel pampered and cared for truly on a very organic level that you just feel at your best already from the moment you step in the warm but fresh vibe. Elizabeth is friendly and open but really clear on the vision for your best hair with you, she understands what you’re seeking and you just let her create it for you with input as you go. I’m always excited to work with her and will be back more frequently rather than letting it wait. Thank you team Avalon!

This was my first appointment at Avalon Salon Spa Shop and I can tell you that the entire experience was a “5” rating of Excellent. From the moment I walked in, to the moment I left, I knew I chose the right place. I was greeted with smiles and an immediate tour. I was impressed with the inviting salon and their extensive services. I now know where to go for my facials, massages, pedicures, and more. I was then introduced to Megan, my stylist, who could not have been a better fit for my needs. She listened and delivered on the mark. I was thrilled with my cut and how so friendly and talented she was. She made my day. I highly recommend Avalon, as well as Megan if you want a wonderful salon experience and great quality service.

Well the customer service here is terrible, I called this morning only to ask if they did nails. Which the lady who answered the phone let me know they only do gel manicures they don't do acrylic or anything like that so I proceeded to ask her well can you. Remove the acrylic I already have and give me fresh gel set? Do you guys do that? She immediately says well no we don't have enough time to do that today..... I didn't ask if they could do it today. I only asked if that was a service they provided and she was immediately rude and told me no. Not only did she tell me no, she was extremely rude. I don't even have time to come in today I was actually calling to schedule an appointment for another day, but I wanted to make sure that that service was provided, because some salons don't remove acrylic. Which instead of telling me would you like to schedule something for tomorrow? My only option was no we don't have time for that today because that takes too long. We're booked. She didn't offer to check her schedule, she didn't offer me an appointment for tomorrow or the next day or anything. It was like no we can't do that today, I have no other options for you. I don't even respond, I simply hung up because she seemed very unhappy with me for some reason. Definitely a big loss, because not only was I going to schedule my nails, I needed a pedicure, my hair cut and dyed, I'm still not sure if you guys do eyebrows at all because I didn't get the chance to ask! I was going to go all out and book several services for myself here based on the reviews I saw but I was refused by a woman that answered the phones Wednesday Jan 22, 2025 so I will be taking my business elsewhere.

The facial was devine and the massage was lovely and very relaxing. The products Danuta used were well chosen for my skin concerns and left my skin feeling rejuvenated and hydrated.

Monika is Fabulous! I’ve had deep tissue/relaxing massages and medical like massages and every time she did an amazing job. I have issues with my neck that causes headaches and I leave there feeling great and headache free:)
